Consensus government in charge of Gaza borders

On Nov. 1, the Ramallah-based Palestinian consensus government assumed responsibility for all of the Gaza Strip’s border crossings from Hamas, which has governed the coastal enclave since 2007. The move comes as part of an Egypt-sponsored reconciliation deal signed in Cairo on Oct. 12.
